THE PAWS SHELTER IS CLOSED TO PUBLIC VIEWING.

The Creston Pet Adoption and Welfare Society (PAWS) is a registered charity established in 1996.  We are a volunteer based organization committed to finding safe, loving, forever homes for abused, abandoned, stray and unwanted animals in the Creston Valley.

PAWS serves an area of approximately 3500 square miles in the southeast corner of British Columbia.  In 2010, our goal to establish Claudia's Place, a full service animal shelter facility, was achieved.

We are an organization made up almost entirely of volunteers.  Our one paid employee is our on-site caretaker, whose wages are offset by the rental of our Caretaker Cottage.  We are a private charity, exclusive to the Creston Valley.  We are not affiliated with or funded by the BCSPCA, or by the Provincial or Municipal Government.  Our funding comes from donations, fundraising and grants.

PAWS volunteers take to heart our motto:
"Men have forgotten this truth........but you must not forget it.  You become responsible forever for what  you have tamed."

FEATURED PET
Max
I'm a PAWS Pet! Click here to find out more about me.

This beautiful boy is a healthy, happy 11-year-old black Lab X. When it comes to people, Max wins everybody's heart. So why is he still with us you ask? Well, he can get quite anxious around other dogs. Sometimes he just barks, but sometimes he may show some aggressive behaviour. Because of his anxiety PAWS had to categorize him as having 'special requirements'. For many people, these special requirements would totally fit their lifestyle and what they could offer Max. Ideally, quiet country life, no other pets, a secure environment, great companionship, and a nice warm bed to sleep in. We know that home is out there, but until we can find that for him, we continue to keep him as happy as possible. If you know you have the perfect home for Max, please contact the shelter to arrange to meet him. A PAWS Director would be happy to talk with you more about him.
